Hi all,

Many thanks for the advise offered in my last post. Am still loooking for a Fabia - due to the advice recieved here, I have been able to avoid some really bad motors. SO thank you again.

Also, what are people's views on 8v comforts? Have been looking out for 16v or 1.9sdi - but a couple of 8v keep popping up and I'm tempted to consider it.

I've had my 8V Comfort for 19 months now , and personally I think its a cracking little car! If you want performance then look elsewhere , but if you just want a general run-around with a decent spec that will keep up with the general flow of traffic , rather than passing everything in sight like a lunatic , then you will be fine with the 8V. Downsides? Well they come with wheeltrims , not alloys , the stereo is a Casette player not CD ,and you don't get rear electric windows. The 8V engine has been known to go through head gaskets , so make sure you check the car over and go on a nice long test drive. Look for 'mayonnaise' under the oil cap , and check the temp gauge works and doesnt go past half way. Other generic Fabia faults are the doors often leak resulting in wet carpets and steamy wimdows , dealers shoud fix this if the car is under warranty. Check the power steering too , sometimes the sensor fails and throws a light up on the dash , you will notice at the same time the power steering goes heavy intermittantly.
