Hi just signed up to find out the spec of a Octavia VRS (55 plate) basically one tried to 'leave' me tonight after a roundabout in cheshire but i dont think he realised it was a 200bhp Astra 888 diesel behind him ;) fair play the octavia goes very well indeed :D mightly impressed.

Great forum ive been looking around :D

Hello there. Nice piece of kit you have.

Welcome to the site

Congratulations on having one of the few Vauxhalls I actually like!

Was it a Mk1 or 2 vRS you encountered? I can't remember when the current vRS was released...

Whereabouts in Cheshire were you?

Steve

Standard spec you should have the legs on a vRS (180bhp petrol, 170 diesel), but there are lots of re-tuned vRS (and others) out there.

It would really depend on whether it was MK1 or MK2.

MK2's are a lot more powerful especially if they aren't standard. Should be 200hp standard rising to 250 ish for a mapped one. Torque on a mapped one should be in excess of 300lbft so I would imagine it would be an interesting challenge.

How do you find the Astra??

Thanks guys :D ive been reliably informed ( by my passanger  it was a 56 plate if that makes any difference, dark blue in colour )

Before anyone thinks this was a mines better than yours etc it wasnt as i say i was well impresed and my cars no slouch esp when you boot it on the move.

VRstu astra is superb ive just done 6k nearly and loved every mile of it, i love it when peoples faces change when you tell them its a diesel  then tell them the spec and the soon listen. Be good challenge though mines 200bhp/330lbft with the sports button pressed ( standard with button off is 160bhp and 270lbft )

You are well at home here after all the Fabia vRS pretty much started the performance oil burner craze and continues to amaze people with it's performance.

Skoda have now shoe-horned the PD170 TDi into the new Octavia vRS (You could have been up against one of those actually - only way to tell without lifting the bonnet is the rev counter really)

If it was an RS in blue then it would have been sort of sky blue like a Scooby.

I like fast diesels, the feeling of power is often greater than it actually is, great fun. I don't think anyone would take it in the vein of 'mine is better than yours' as this is generally frowned upon here.

Hey welcome to the site... Rather an Impressive car! The only Vauxhall I like though...

It was about 6:00pm so was dark, yeah as you say i think the fabia started a trend and others soon followed suit, ive never had a diesel before as they where always seen as slow and noisy etc. I know a lad who now owns a red VRS aswell ( andy from liverpool ) so im hoping to see that next month :D but he has already challenged me when he gets upgraded  if he comes to the next meet ill get a pic of them both together

:wave23d: Hello matey. Ill beat ya ;)
