Dealer offering Cars at Cost Price?

Featured Replies

Has anyone ever attended one of these dealer cost price days. Im looking at a vrs tdi or a sport tdi and just wondered if they are genuine and what price I can expect the cars to be?

Cheers

I have attended one in Sheffield and this one was genuine.

I bought a 54 plate Skoda Octavia II 1.9 TDi Classic in November 2004 and from what I can remember I got

I got my octavia at cost price which was about 9% off the list price including options.

It was limited to cars in stock in the UK so I couldn't get exactly the options I wanted and ended up with the tyre pressure monitor as well , but it's only an extra £50 and nothing to bother me

Check the offers on DTD before you go as well, as these can sometimes be bellow cost price ;) especially if you are speccing the car up.

got the 'cost plus £1' offer through the mail this morning....

price last time was genuine but the trade-in they offered on my Octy was..... well.... carp to say the least!

Guess they have to make the money somewhere....

got the 'cost plus

Mine came this morning. Cost price and 0% finance.

Me too....

called alex lawrie Skoda - trade in on the VRS petrol demo I bought in Sept was laughable though !!

Only called them to see what it would cost to move to the VRS diesel - wasn't really that serious but I guess the mailing did the job.

Still loving the VRS petrol anyway :D

I got a letter from my local dealer advertising this offer.

Popped in today to book a service and asked about it. Was told that i would save roughly 6% off the list price if i did it before the promotion ends tomorrow ( I was looking at the roomster for my other half.) Dont think its any more of a saving than i would make by grinding the salesman down at any other time :D

Was that JCB?

Thought it was cost plus

Yes mate, it was the one in Basildon.

Probably is cost +

As I understand it dealers are incentivised by the manufactureres, At certain times if the cars arent selling the manufacturer gives them targets, if they shift more than a certain number of cars per month they get some form of bonus so if they shift a load of cars at cost the manufacturer sends them a cheque.

I know of someone recently who had a new car knocked down from around 35000 to 27000 as the dealer needed to shift a couple more to hit his target & only had a couple of days left.

When we bought the Superb we paid below list at the end of the month. A good tip is to find out the deal, then get a list of UK dealers (Skoda will provide that) & simply ring round at about the middle of the month saying Ive been offered this deal can you beat it, if somone beats it it go back to the local dealer & they might match it, keep playing the game & as the end of the month approaches some will become keener & then you can do the deal.

On the Superb we ended up with a 3 way battle between dealers in The west country, Yorkshire & Southampton. Southampton finally matched the cheapest & we did the deal, interestingly at the time it was cheaper than anything I could find on the Internet.

Remember, whatever deal you are offered the dealer has to be making something out of it to stay in business

Saved £2200 on my L&K last month, simply with a 'drive the deal' print off. Thats about 11-12% off of list, and we get the exact car we wanted.

'Drive the Deal' does not let you print off the price from the website, but a screen print always works!

I just ordered a vRS for £18,550. I got upgrade to 18" wheels, dual zone climate/jumbo box/rear electric windows, cruze control, black pearl paint, light/rain assist, parking sensors(rear) for the basic car price. So dont loose out, try your hardest without being rude lol
