Remap for Skoda Octavia vRS

Featured Replies

I'm a brand new member to this site and have been reading many reviews on the remap of the vRS from 180bhp to 220bhp + ish.

This may seem like a stupid question but roughly how much is it to get one?

Are we taking a couple of hundred quid, 500 quid, a grand etc?

I have heard and from what everyone on this website say its well worth it but no figures have been mentioned, I really want to get mine done to improve performance.

Does it make it noticeably quicker?

Thanks for your help guys

You've done all the research and yet you haven't found the answers?

A remap can be anything between £340 (current groupbuy at Impossible Performance) and £600 (Revo + SPS, but don't quote me on that). £500 is a good estimate.

Performance will increase from 180bhp to 210-230bhp, depending on what remap and what the engine likes. My previous vRS was mapped by Jabbasport to 216bhp and it was a huge improvement over standard. And yes, it will make it noticably quicker.

Thats great thanks for the speedy reply, I'm definately going to look into it further.

I've just moved over from England to N. Ireland recently so i'm gonna see what companies do it over here or in the South of Ireland.

I will need to check new Ins. quote too as its nearly double to England here!!!

Thanks again.

There are a couple of Irish members on here, I'm sure they'll be popping in

Check this Chipped UK - Where performance counts and dreams come true

This company is always charge around 20%-25% cheaper than the others and provide the same re-map

The same map.

Chiped UK run the same mapping gear as say Jabba, CC, Revo, Impossible Performance etc. I would be very supprised if they did. Maybe some clarification is in order.

Ive spoken to a few 'one man bands' and what they seem to do it do full ECU fault checks first, plug the laptop in and go for a drive, if all ok download the map onto the laptop - email it to Germany, they tinker with it, send it back and then re-upload it to the ECU, then fully tested...does this seem like a typical method?

No, not to me but I always prefer a custom map with the car put on a rolling road. This gets the max out of your car & will also find faults that dont carry error codes. should be cheap though. If the maps not quite right how does he tweak it ??

Thats ideal, however I just want slightly more poke whilst still remaining engine safety, would you recommend I go down the rolling road method?

The stock engine on the Octy can handle just over 300 bhp without any worries. You will never get anywhere that with mapping, changing exhausts etc. The most people can wring out of them without a bigger Turbo is around the 250 mark.

The best remap on a stock car is unlikely to see over 225 bhp so the map wont be a problem. The only weak link might be the clutch but most people can run just a map on the standard clutch but this to an extent is down to how you drive. Loads of traffic light drag starts will shorten the life of any clutch & the extra power will obviously strain it more

Personally to get the best from your car I would go the custom map route, there are several tuners who sponsor this site who could help. Its really down to where you live & who you have a good feel for after a chat. My prefeence is Jabbasport in Peterbourouh but theres also JBS, JKM, Impossible performance, Awesome GTi, Star performance & a few Ive probably forgotten.

Adding on to waht Stu has said......weak point for big turbo is the crown diff in the gearbox....should have this and this clutch uprated....makes sense, and will be cheaper, whisl tthe gearbox is out.

I ran 340bhp on a standard clutch and crown diff...but I had mine mapped to limit the torque....which ulitmately is one of the major contributors to clutch failure...plus the way you drive.

i had my oct vrs remapped by chip boost
