 i am new on this site. i just bought a skoda that had done 44 , 0000 miles and am regreting it. i was having probs starting it and kept losing power. i took it to the garage and was told that there was a prob with the engine and the parts look like the fuel injectors were clogged and one cost 140 pounds to change. he only changed one and its driving ok but he advised i need to change it all. he also said that the fabia wasnt designed to be driven short distances. has anyone had any similar probs. am going away for 6 mths , and am scared the whole engine is going to be faulty when i come back pls help!!!!!!!

Sounds to me like it needs a god italian tuneup....AKA a good thrashing. This will help remove deposits from the injectors and blast through the cat.

I suggest you take it out for a run, let it warm up fully and then give it a damn good thrashing, going to red line in a few gears several times.

All engines need it now and again. You'd be surprised at the difference it can make.

Also, when was the last time it was fully serviced? Air filter, fuel filter, spark plugs etc...all can make a car run poorly and all are serviceable items.

Completely agree with that statement. My parents both had a Leon, same engine size and spec, but my mothers ran like a dog

What, like constantly pulled at it's lead and stopped at every tree is passed? :D

LMFAO.

Salesman at a dealership I bought my 320i off a couple of years back said the same. He advised me to thrash it now and again (turned out to be a lot :D ). He said his wife would complain of lumpy running after using their car for a couple of days and all he would do was take it out, beat the hell out of it with the noisy pedal and bring it back all running smoothly.
