tdi timing

Featured Replies

can the injection timing be altered by using vag-com ( 1.9tdi) octavia 2001, as the car is not as economical as before the cambelt was changed by the dealers, and the power delivery is a little less than before.

I have also been told, that the egr valve should be disabled, to prevent soot build up in the inlet manifold, again can this be done using vag-com, seeing as though i have bought genuine lead and licience from ross-tec, i might as well get use from it other than just reading fault codes.

thanks

kevin

the pump timing may be out , i would go back the garage to get them to check their work , does it still start up alright and run with no undue diesel rattle ?

also check the MAF

it's quite some time since the cambelt was replaced,(8000 miles) and i hav'nt had the time to return as my wife as been seriously ill, and i've had to take a lot of time off work to look after her, it does start ok, but i've noticed that fuel consumption on the motorway, has become noticibly worse, now only does 48ish rather than the 55-60 ish as before, the maf sensor was replaced at the same time as the cam belt, there's no fault codes logged and the timing is showing as retarded using vag-com, what i want to know is can the timing be adjusted electronicaly, and how do i disable the egr valve.

What TDi engine? On ones with a rotary pump (non PD) you adjust the timing by loosening bolts on the injection pump, but you need VAG-COM to *display* the timing info. Don't know about PD engines.

it's a non pd engine, ok, so it's bolts on the pump, what about the egr valve, anyone know how to either disable or reduce it's operation.

kevin

Have you tired a search on the EGR? Its fairly well covered.

The pump timing as said is adjusted by three bolts on the pulley and then the pulley is adjusted the pump itself doesnt move. PD's arent adjustable as there isnt a pump.
