Squeal Noise? Furby vRS

Featured Replies

Hi,

Please can any u expert techies / non-techies Briskodians enlighten on this recent noise occuring from by Furby vRS. I've only got 5k on the clock. I've noticed a squeal noise occuring during slow cornering (with steering near full lock), sounds like either from power steering system or could it be the brakes squealing? Anyway I'm confused and looking for answers b4 I consider as a problem?

Thanks,

Rich.

I'll have to check, but I'm pretty sure I get this too. I haven't worried too much about it - my old polo made an even louder squeal when nearing full lock.

Gents,

Does the squeal stop as soon as you take the steering lock off - i.e. start to straighten up? If so, then it's down to the power steering.

Not owning a Furby, I can't rememer if it's hydraulic or electro-hydraulic steering, but in either case a slipping drive belt is the first port of call (either to the power steering pump for hydraulic or to the alternator for electro-hydraulic).

Electro-hydraulic...

Electro-hydraulic...

Thanks Denis, I had a sneaking suspicion it was.
