cutting holes

Featured Replies

took my number plate off for cleaning just, and behind it theres a big piece of plastic stopping air getting to the rad, what i want to do is move the number plate off to one side, under one of the headlights, and chop away this rogue plastic, one because its a big restriction, and two im a big fan of the evo look, i see a couple of members have already done this, my question is how can i go about getting rid of the plastic without making it look like ive just been watching art attack? im not a big fan of the dremel cos it tends to grab and chop too much off things, will it need to be filled and painted around the edges, and ultimately is it worth it???

Isnt there part of the crash bar behind the piece of plastic you want to chop out??

Unless you fit a large FMIC, you will just look at a hole ??

guess you might be right about the crash bar, where did you get your grille?

Nice and friendly as ever Gerry :P

Made it with a mate who does GRP work.

When you look behind the number plate there is the bit you want to cut out, but behind that is part of the front crash bar. If you fit a Forge FMIC then they can supply a modified crash bar.

The ABD Racing FMIC that I have sits right in the centre lower grille and requires nothing to be cut from the bumper, and works really well, giving an inlet temp the other day of 20 whilst at full chat in fourth, obviously on a private road, but until you get the car remapped etc, there is no real need fit a FMIC or to start open heart surgery on the bumper.

Nice and friendly as ever Gerry :P
