Towing With A Superb

Featured Replies

Hi all

I am currentley looking at buying a used superb 130 comfort on at 53 or a04 plate and was trying to get a accurate kerbweight of the car as i can only find on the internet very limited results . What i have found is a 53 plate 130 comfort kerbweight is only 1465 kg but this seems to me a low kerbweight for such a large car .Can anyone on here tell me if they have got this model the true kerbweight of them . also any info on how good they are for towing would be nice

Hi

I tow a Swift Charisma 545 5 berth with my 05 plate 130 Comfort and it tows a dream.

The only problem I have had is the odd spot of wheel spin when pulling away on a loose surface, but thats normal for a front wheel drive.

Sounds somewhere near correct ...I was assuming mine was 1500Kg ...it does tow VERY well...and you will have to watch you speed it can creep up and go way way past 60 mph

Hi, try autotrader.com, their new and used section is full of usefull information like kerb weights and towing weights, i believe nearly all superbs can pull 1600kg except the 1.8t which can only pull 1300kg, quess which 1 i've got! I have bought a 1200kg caravan and it pulls it really well so not too sure why its so limited. Not too sure what the V6's can pull too. BryanP

Just checked on the Parkers website and they list the kerbweight at 1567kg which seems about right.

Yes, according to Skoda UK technical specs in the Superb brochure (see Skoda UK website) 1465kg is for the 1.9 TDI PD 105 ............ the 1.9 130 is 1567 (auto 1623) and the V6 TDI is 1672 (auto 1706)

I bought my 130PS diesel Superb specifically as a towcar. Although I'm not pushed about the Superb as a car (too many inherited VW problems) it's a really good towcar and I'm pleased with it. It pulls like a train with a heavy trailer and gives 50mpg economy without it - you can't do much better than that.

The overhanging engine does minimise lift off when starting off on a loose surface with a heavy trailer (rear drive is better for towing) - pity the overhanging mass ruins the handling at all other times.

It's good at its job, but I'll never love it.

Got the 2.5 V6 for towing. I drag a Lunar LX 2000 Caravan, and it is such a dream to tow with.

Hi Dazkim

I am new to this site, and have just been reading a few towing related postings as I have just taken delivery of a 54 plate Superb Elegance 1.9 Tdi to do the same job - tow my caravan.

It should be a dream to tow with by all accounts, and as for the kerb weight I hope the attached link helps you, and of course any other member with kerb weight questions.

Have fun mate. :)

Kind regards
