Double Din Dvd Player!!!!

Featured Replies

Evening Folks

I have been using a kenwood KDC-W0627 and have decided to take the plunge and upgrade to a DVD player. I wanted something that at least I could leave in the car knowing that its not attracting thieves and I've seen this on ebay which would take advantage of the double din in my fabia VRS. I was hoping that it may look like part of the car howevr I want something that's not going to get stolen as soon as i put it in,

Any ideas or photos of multimedia setups would be great:D

Now we can see where you live bengie :)

i know, but if anyone asked for help i would tell them where i live anyway if they wanted to come for help or pick something up.

the car is alarmed, immobilised and sat on my driveway, my parents live next door and are always in. not only that but my dad is a nosey old sod so any interest and he would be straight out there.

I like the look of Bengies setup, Im too tight to fork out for a pioneer one but the one ive bidded on should look like Bengies setup. Are they easy to install once you get your head round the ISO config, I believe there could be some info on here some wheres!

One other thing, I want it to display when im driving so anyone got any tricks about this hand brake thingymajig, I heard something about not connecting or crimping and everything works sweeeeett:D .

Thanks for the pics as well made me want one even more now:mad: .

it *should* fit fine, i have never had to adjust a car to make a stereo fit but others say they have had to. stick the handbrake signal wire in with teh earth to make it display all the time :)

let us know what its like to look at and use as i have always wondered as they are a lot cheaper than buying a big name item.

I missed out on the bid and i'm glad in a way as I have been thinking and I would be pooing my pants all the time thinking some toerag would try to steal it. Also my car tax is due and the nice spanner thingy on the display in the car is saying that I need my first service  YOUCH!

I've decided on getting a little single din unit (possibly a sevic blue line thing or 2nd JVC) as at least I wont have to change me undies everytime I parked teh car somewhere other than my path. The sevic is only a 150 squid from DABS. I was even contemplating sacking the DVD all together and getting a BASS BOX as but I just like the idea (and my 7 year old son) of having something to watch in the display.

Anyone had any experience of fitting a sevic unit?

Cheers

i can happily recommend a JVC single dvd unit bith with and without screen. my brother has one withouta screen and i had one with a screen. both excellent machines :)

Ive gone mental and bought a 7 inch screen and a single face of DVD (hopefully for 40 earth poubds from ebay). The reason I went for the motorised unit is taht hopefully it wont look to "IN TOP" leaving it in teh car (will mask the writing so its all black) and the removable facia will ease me. With the money i've saved im also going to get me an active sub so anyone in teh merseyside area wanna help install for some "beer tokens" let me know.

I'll post some pics when all installed :D

And now I got the final piee of the puzzle.......:D

Just need to wait for the goodies to arrive and get the relevant ISO connection going. What should I do about teh screen just wire that one in from a live and an earth as I suspect this wont have any iso leads just the vid in and out and the relevant power leads.

Help :(

And has anyone got one of these units

I've got a unit similar to that single DIN, JVC KD-AVX2, and it rocks! Just need to sort out the speakers to complement it, plus it has a cool dual zone feature so people in the back can watch a DVD using headphones & the people in the front listen to the radio

I was looking at the JVC units but cash was an issue and the unit I ended up getting has an SD/MMC reader as well as usb 2 so I can connect a Hard disc. I also bought a 7 inch screen and they both cost under 200 squid new, but i'm just plopping my pant now incase i blow them up or they turnd out to be turd. Every who I know who has a JVC swears by them and I hope I dont regret going for the tight A.S.S option .

I think i'll need to get help wiring these in as ive looked up info on ISO conection and I come away more confused than I started. I may just FUDGE something with the existing kenwood iso and follow the wiring diagram to join the relevant cables together.

where abouts are you based?
