Felicia won't start

Featured Replies

Hi,

For a couple of weeks now my Felicia (1.6, 1996, ~166 000 km) hasn't been starting the way it should be. Everything sounds & looks normal when I turn the key, it just won't start. Battery is not dead, there's enough fuel in the tank, starter motor is working (= it's turning, not just making the 'click'-sound).

We tried bump starting it once and it worked, also pushing the car while on 1st gear and then starting it helped once (but not when I tried it a couple of days later:) ). When I get it running it functions like normally. Does anybody know what could be wrong with it? Immobilizer (does it even have one?), starter motor?

So is the engine turning over when you turn the key?

Yeah, engine is turning over. I've also replaced the distributor cap and the rotating thing inside it (I don't know what it is in english, rotator?), didn't have any effect. I've also tried to check all kinds of wires and connectors and spray them with crc in case there's water somewhere.

Could be a faulty crankshaft sensor.

Any fault codes?

Ahh just noticed its a 1.6, my money would be on a faulty hall sensor in the distributor. new distributor should sort that.
