Fuel Consumption and Fuel Gauge!!!

Featured Replies

:) Hello every one. I suppose im a lucky one really as my felicia doesnt seem to have many problems. But when I do, this site always comes up trumps. So here I am with a new question.

I've got a 1997 Felicia 1.6mpi. I would like to know what kind of fuel consumption I should be getting from her. Also if anybody knows, how reliable is the fuel guage on the dash board, as mine seems to have a mind of its own.

I look forward to any help from any one, and many many thanks in antisipation.

Cheers

i get 30!! yes 30mpg from my 1.6. but mind you i do rag the 7uck out of it all the time.:D :D :D

and yes the guage has got a mind of its own.

I get around 45-50 out of my 1.3 with mixed town/A road driving.

My fuel guage does move around quite a bit when near the bottom of the scale, but i have found this to be the case with all cars that i have owned (all older than N) think it is just how the older guages work i guess.

I still know how much i have left in it.... if the guage is resting on the bottom, about another 6-10 miles and..... splutter..... lol

This probably won't help but I find I always have plenty of fuel as long as I'm going downhill! It's amazing, even when I'm right at the bottom of the tank and the light is on if I go down a hill the light goes off, magic! (

Lol... Me Too!

But you soon run out again when you go up! Maybe we should all just drive down hill everywhere and we'd never have to fill up again! Although i think there are a few technicalities to iron out in this plan somewhere.....

mine slowly fills itself on the way to work. i park facing up hill. so when i get in the car, its nearly empty. but by the time i get to work its filled up again? magic.

I find the same! About 30 - 35mpg when thrashing it, nearer 40mpg when not. About 20mpg when towing lol!

My advice,

1. Drive gently - my fuel guage goes up the less I thrash it!!

2. Nice long runs - I only drive round town, and mine drinks fuel like hell.

3. Drive down hill - mentioned before

4. Cruise on the motorway - mine seems to love it long distance

Hope that helps.:)
