Brake Light Failure

Featured Replies

 I seem to have gained a fault on the back brake light.

I know the bulb is good but it works then does not then works then does not.... get the picture.

And no it's not just when I press the pedal before anyone mentions it

It seems to be fine then it just throws the brake light failure warning on the dash screen, and the light is out any one had this problem before or can throw any light on it

Try to remove the bulb and re-install to see if it helps. Alternatively check the contacts on the bulb to ensure that there is sufficient solder.

Have had four different light bulbs in up to now lol still seems to persist.:(

Possibly the common brake light switch failure.

Thanks for that but if as the name suggests that it is a common switch to all brake lights would not all the brake lights not work?

Yes it would but your original post didn't suggest that it was a single bulb failure.

Apologies for that yes only passenger side brake light, and only sporadically.

Have tried checking the bulb, looks fine and tight, the holder looks clean, no corrosion, was wondering if this could e a further problem with the mythical water in back footwell problem that besets the Superb range.??

any thoughts anyone:confused:

Bulb holder

Replace it , not THAT expensive

Have you had same problem?

If is is the bulb holder, swap it with the o/s one to confirm (o/s will then have the fault instead).

Will try that thank you for that suggestion did not realise they were swappable.
