courtesey lights not working

Featured Replies

Hi does anyone have answer to this problem. My interior lights don't work when the doors are open. the lights in the footwells and on the door sills come on but not the door mirror ones or the intetior lights in the roof.

all the swithches are in the door open position and they all work if you turn them on manually!

Don't know for absolutely sure, but some people here have had a similar problem and it's due to the pollen filter and battery tray drains being blocked, allowing water into the car. Under the seat there is a can-bus type computer / wiring, which can get affected by water, and cause problems like you mention.

I am sure someone will either put me right on this or confirm soon.

thanks I will take a look tomorrow and see if this is the problem?

As said above i would think the pollen filter housing is leaking water.

The water will be collecting under the carpet. In the n/s/r foot well there is a connection in the loom for the interior lights. This connection corrodes out due to the water and falls apart.

is it an easy fix or is it a visit to skoda and mega money?

Or look for a multi connector under there it is htis that corrodes just rejoin the wires properly (not a botch job) and also check the fuse for the lights as this can blow> I had smae problem Skoda dealer did not know anything about the fault allegedly so have a look but be careful when taking carpets up.

Happy hunting any problems get back to me.

Mr Fisher was spot on with his prognosis

I had this problem with my brand new Elegance when I picked it up three weeks ago. Unfortunately only spotted it when I got home! Dealer found that the "convenience module" in the driver footwell somewhere had failed. It was rapidly replaced and now works fine, as does the rest of this excellent car, which has ably replaced my previous company Mercedes E220.
