My Octavia vRS mark II is coming up to one year old with just over 15,000 very happy miles on the clock. I asked my local Skoda garage if they've had many of them in for servicing yet and they said that quite a few had come in between 14,000 and 17,000 miles.

I know it's all based around a variable servicing schedule and how you drive but have many of you had your first (or even second) servicing yet and if so, what mileage did you reach before the warning light came on?

I've also noticed that my front tyres are not holding grip as well as they did when new. The tread level is still fair but I'm thinking of swapping them round with the rear wheels and wondered if any of you guys had done this and if so, at what mileage?

It also needs a good clean but that's nothing to do with its mileage.
