The "New" L&K

Featured Replies

Mine arrived today:D, so in light of SUK's lack of pictures, I thought I'd post my own!

Wasn't sure what the Alacantra would be like, but I'm pretty damn pleased with it! Wheels look good to!

Those seats look fantastic, so do the wheels for that matter. How long did she take from ordering to delivery?

I ask as my new boss will be ordering mine next week :D

Methinks a DIY MFD2 upgrade will finish it off nicely ;)

That looks sweet!! Like the embossed logo's on the seats! Nice touch! Also the alloys look really nice to!!

It took about 10 weeks from order. I'm happy with the sterio, but a bit of high gloss (piano wood!!) trim around the radio and climatronic dials would really finish it nicely.

I'm more interested in the Corrado in the garage behind... an absolute classic.

It is very nice and has just had new springs and shockers on. Might be aloud to drive it once I turn 25.

I notice you're from Loughborough, - that's where I'm from originally. I remember my brother's mate having the first Corrado (a 16 valver) in Loughborough (it might have been one of the first into the country too) in about 1989. I think they may have been a bit ahead of their time when you think of the other cars at the time.

I also remember being a passenger on a test drive of a Corrado VR6 soon after and it was very very quick. Still quick by today's standards.

0-60 is in the 7s range still, despite an oldish engine, once its warm, of course. I have made no mods, except a woofer, and a nice set of Koni/H&R suspension. I will happily admit its not the fastest thing on the road, but it has incredible character, a fantastic engine noise, and the spoiler always puts a smile on my face, when it pops up!

Anyway, back on track, the "hill hold" on the new L&K, aint as it sounds! It isn't a hil hold, as per the new Passat. If you are stopped, with clutch and break depressed, it holds the break pressue for 2 seconds after you release the pedal, so you don't roll back as you go between break and throttle. It's actually rather a nice feature, but not quite as it sounds!

Oh, and yeah, an adopted lLoughborough lad. I grew up in Wokingham, but came up here for Uni, and never got round to leaving!

Phil

The hill hold still sounds like a handy little feature, I assume it stops that little roll back you can get when you can't be arsed to do it properly with the hand brake :P

What are the illuminated door handles like? Thats the only reason I want one

Yep, the little roll back is no more!

Door handles look danm smart too.

My only queries so far are that I cant seen to get the seat position assigned to the remotes, and the light assist seems to turn the light on during the day, when its sunny:confused:

Mine was like that with the light assist when I first got it. Also didn't realise it turns itself on no matter what conditions at a certains speed! I think 65mph.

Also with the keys, its a lot of playing around. Its not instant either! Best thing to do is set it to position 1. Then set position 3 to something that is completely wrong. And leave the car, then when u next come back to the car, if its in ur position 1...its worked!

I've tried to set it while sitting in the car, but doesn't work like that!

Hope you understand that and that helps :o

Wait till it gets dark!

Xenons seem pretty damn good, not that I've driven in the dark yet, but they make the house opposite glow:D. Main looks pants though. Going to see if I can get a Hids4U kit to upgrade those. After all, the self levelling and washers are already there.

Phil

The main beam is utter garbage, I upgraded to rally bulbs and it's still sh|te.

The only drawback with HID main beams is the warm up period, they take a few seconds to get going which will lead to problems when flashing other drivers etc.

It's a real shame that Skoda didn't provide the option of bi-xenon on the Octavia. The Superb has Bi-Xe lamps so they have access to the technology. Is this VAG internal politics at play once again?

:o

85mph according to the manual and practical experience.

Light assist gets fooled by shadows and contrast even on bright days.
