Cutting out on hills!

Featured Replies

Hi everyone!

I have a felicia estate 1.6 R reg, which is cutting out on steep hills and sometimes on the flat. But this mainly happens on the hills! The problem started after the engine would not turn over one night, but ignition lights came on. So i used jump leads to start the car and it started ok. The day after i had the battery tested out and it failed so i replaced it. But the cutting out problem is still there, it really feels like an electrical prob or fuel. Ideas much appreciated!

Thanks,

Steve.

could be the map sensor playing up, the map sensor measures the amount of load applied to the engine and calculates the fueling and ignition angles based on this 'load'

it is mounted on the intake manifold next to the throttle body

I had this happen on a car of mine (not Skoda), turned out the fuel pump had packed up, usually worked fine on the flat, foolishly tried a holiday to Wales knowing there was a problem, soon as i hit the hills it killed the engine.
