Rear door trim removal tips anyone?

Featured Replies

Hi,

I have got a stupid plastic sucker stuck (it holds on one of those kids sunshades) down in the rear door trim on my Octy, anyone have any tips how to get the trim removed?

Many thanks

Paul

Eeeek, number 1 cause of window regulator breakages, be care full.

I've only had my brand new vRS for 3 weeks, but had to call out the AA on Friday, as the rear window dropped right down in to the inside of the door. The window motor was spinning but not engaging with the winding mechanism - not impressed after 3 weeks of ownership !

The AA guy managed to get the trim off in a couple of mins (from memory he had to prize off the speaker grill and door handle to get access to the screws) but he was then stumped, as there's another panel behind the trim. This inside panel is riveted on to the door, so he ended up having to take the car to a garage and drill out the rivets

The problem was apparently caused by a faulty plastic fitting (sorry, not sure what bit, but it's white triangular-shaped bit of plastic).

Car booked in on Thursday to be fixed - the dealer gave me the usual "never heard of that happening before Sir!"

Was really happy with the car until then!

Good luck

Ade

i had a 2.0 glxi (2001 model) when i was based in cyprus and that happened to me to on the rear drivers side window thought they would have solved that problem by now:eek:

Rivets, i cant believe they would rivet it together. May have a go at getting thr trim off and take a look myself.

Cheers

Paul

Nor could I - the AA guy was similarly unimpressed...

Only just seen this post - have a look at this.

Haven't tried removing the metal panel - that will come later when I upgrade the ICE.
