Dension Icelink 400 on Superb DX

Featured Replies

Didn't know whether to post it on the ICE forum or here, so I'll try here first.

Anyone got any experience of the above with the DX SatDav unit on an '05 Superb?

I'd like to hide the IPod away in the glovebox. Supposedly the Icenlink 400 preserves CD changer function via a slide switch to select Ipod or changer and give basic track information on screen. FW and Rev can be selected via the steering wheel.

I've heard some dodgy stories about Dension and wonder whether anyone has first hand knowledge.

Did you ever get an answer to your question. Interested as im looking to do the same.

My MDF2 Sat Nav won

Thanks a lot I'll have a look at that just now.

I've got and Icelink 300 and the box that retains CD functionality.

It works and charges the Ipod. You can also use a USB stick to play music.

However I find it tremendously fiddly to use and whenever you plug the Ipod in, it defaults to shuffle so you have to turn that off.

You can navigate up and down using the steering wheel controls and sound quality is infinitely better than those FM transmitters. There is no track display on the DX HU.

Yo can also hide the Ipod out of site - however it only charges when the ignition is turned on.

I haven't yet mastered the Playlist controls.

To be quite honest I dont think it's worth

Cheers, I take it there is no other options as this seems to be the only kit about. Do you no if you can get bluetooth compatibility for the 300?

No mention of Bluetooth with the Icelink 300.

I've got a Parrot LS3200 and they work fine together.

Note that with all the extra leads etc, refitting the DX unit is a tight squeeze.

Will the Maxidot display be useless if you fit it in?

My MDF displays a track number and duration, but it can

So i guess your superb come with the Sat Nav and therefore you have no problem adding the Dension in?

Or do what I do and just listen to the ipod on the headphones!!!! How cheap am I! :)

LMAO!!!! Now that is cheap........

The REALLY daft thing is that when I am listening to the ipod on the headphones, I try and adjust the volume with the steering wheel controls! - D'oh :P

Have the mentioned exact configuration Gateway 400 Skoda Navi DX Superb Elegance

Completely useless for following reasons:

Whirring noise in the background

Regularly looses configuration file stored for VW/Audi and has to be reflashed. In this case even CD Changer ist lost.

Switching to and from CD Changer needs to have the car stopped, ignition off, switch in glovebox changed, ignition on....

Configuration with 60GB Ipod Photo results in regularly software crashes with latest IPod Software. I pod looses charge and has to be taken out of car, recharged and resetted. Gateway system ist to weak to start and reset not charged IPOD !

USB sticks are not recogniced by system when car engine is started. Navi DX has to be switched off and switched on again. Otherwise system will display track 99 and mute completely.

Glovebox clips do not hold 60 GB model Ipod photo.

Software has to be reflashed from completely emptied USB stick and flashing deletes this file. Software defaults to useless low level output so flashing has to be done with an additional file with level adjustments again from completely emptied USB stick.

For repair on the way you must store two empied USB sticks with nothing but Gateway software in your car.

Dension has never seem to deliver a fitting instruction an does not deliver support to its dealers. Cables included are to short so unit cannot be fitted in glovebox but must be kept under climatic control so any change of hardware is a horrible work.

When problems claimed dealer delivers another gateway control unit with exact the same problems.

Gateway 400 has been discontinued by Hungarian manufacturer after only a couple of months and replaced by Gateway 300 without video output and CD changer switch optional .

Hope Dension will ever get it right.
