v maxx coilover? or H&R springs?

Featured Replies

My superb is at 80k miles and has never been the best handler. As bushes are starting to wear out (dreaded control arms need doing) I'm thinking of spending a bit of cash and getting new suspension.

I want to keep the comfort (had a modded Saab 9k turbo which had Bilstein lowering kit - handled brilliantly but had no comfort - so bad I took them back off) I also want to tighten up the handling. Spoken to brother who had Passat - he put Audi a4 sport dampers on front, passat oem on back and hr lowering springs. Made massive difference. For that kind of money you can buy this Vmaxx coilover kit - anyone have experiences? What would you suggest?

Cheers

There is a member on here called 'Fluffy' who has this kit I believe and I have been out in his motor and it rides very similar to mine and for the money you can't really go wrong.....

I have KW Variant 1 Coilovers and the ride is perfect while still being comfortable and it was well worth the money that I spent on it.

My Superb has just clocked up 128k now and I have had no issues with bushes or control arms and mine should be under more stress now that it's on the floor but I may well experience some issues in the futrue!?!?!?!?

Cue 'Fluffy'................

Someone say my name?? The V-Maxx are a good comprimise between cost and quality. While the KW vairant will be a better made setup, for

Ok i just gotten hold of my rear vmaxx. I dunno will i regret my deal or not. Seems to be the oem version of the Vmaxx. Non label but all the items are the same from the vmaxx brochures. Waiting for the front to come before i can install it in.

Do you all have any picture of the vmaxx for the superb. I did like to know if i have gotten the correct version for this car.

Hey Fluffy........you still got your Superb?

I certainly have. Decided on getting a bike for the speed and the Superb for the comfort.

Good to hear it mate, don't see you posting on here are much as you used too....

Fluffy, Normally they dont come with the top mount?? That means i need to use the org top mount?

My KW Variant 1's use the original top mounts.......I would also do yourself a favour and don't bother fitting the rear adjuster block if you want it to ride LOW.........I didn't........LOL!!!

Actually the reason for buying coilovers is to make my rear slightly higher then my front.

I like to have 4fingers height back and 2fingser height fronts. Also becoz when parking i am afraid of encountering step or kerb to stop the car front going back.

Each to their own mate....not many people are as excessive as me....LOL!!

Everything in the photo came with the kit. I've never regretted the choice of the v-maxx and if I were to change my car (which I change my mind on every other week) then I'd DEFFINATELY get another set. Don't think you'll be able to adhust your rear any higher though as mine is set to half on the rear and I can't get 1 finger in

I can't get 1 finger in

LOL!!!!

Just thought i'd add my input,i havn't got a superb but i've got vmaxx coilovers on my octavia and there good value for money and the ride is very good :D

LOL!!!!

What can I say, I'm not as big as my car!!

HIaz... i only gotten my back.. no fronts sus so i cannot do much now.. 1 finger? I dunnot my car can cross humps or not..

Here's some older pics of mine. Got the coilovers adjusted to about half on both the front and the rear from what I can remember. Still get over speed humps fine and only on VERY few occasion have i heard any "bottoming out" sounds

Just to add my 2p I don't think I have any room between mine and the rear arch as I have not fitted the adjuster block.....

That's about what I've got on -40mm and 205/55/16 - hitting a speed bump at the wrong angle and my "sump guard" takes a bit of a bash, and going off a kerb a bit too quick makes the front bottom out...

Bah. You folks with your coilovers.
