Making animated gifs from jpegs?

Featured Replies

I have a series of jpegs (that I could shrink if need be) I want to make a GIF out of them all (about 15 shots) but have found no software which does it, which is on freeware.

Anyone any ideas, or can help me create my GIF? I can email the pics if need be.

Does it need to be a gif or can it be a swf file?

I have captivate and did something similar for a lesson resource recently.

If it needs to be a gif I'd imagine photoshop should be able to do something for you.

think I've got something somewhere that'll do the job.... I'll go have a look! ;)

Well, anything that make a small visible file which shows the images as a quick slideshow, say 3 pictures per second?

what's your email addy Jason? (pm if you like!)

I've got a little app that allows you to create a gif - 30 free uses then you have to pay.... but 30 uses should be enough for now?? ;)

I "think" I will use PM. :P

I just made a little gif with it......

would be better if I could work out how to crop the pics exactly right ;)

Cool Caz. :)

glad you like it Rob..... guess t's nice to see 'your baby' flickering again lol

hmmm, email didn't wanna go, Jason.... but it's gone now :)

Normally wouldn't recommend anything from Micro$$$$$$$oft, but I've used this a few times (mostly to make mobile phone screensavers)

Microsoft GIF Animator

Quick, simple and free - which is unusual from Mr Gates! The only problem is that you'll have to convert your jpegs to gifs first, but you can do that in Paint if you don't have anything better...

Well, this is the GIF I made using Caz's software. It was of a Honda NSX which rolled over after losing it on the final corner at Castle Combe this weekend (was Japfest) One

Thanks Jase, that's now making me feel a bit sick! :P

I think you need to try and crop the pics to the same 'area' first lol...... it's fiddly but it can be done ;)

I agree. The foreground grass bouncing up and down kind of detracts from the car!

not perfect, but I've had a go at lining it up ;)

NSX.gif

i have also had a go but seem to have turned a bunch of pictures that total 1Mb into a 7.8Mb animated gif thats not at full quality

trouble is neither photobucket nor briskoda will host it because its too big :(

The Gimp is free and works well for animated gifs from jpeg, just use the layers as frames, easy to resize and alter timing of each frame etc.
