Featured Replies

Hello all,

Just joined this morning.

I purchased a skoda octavia laurent & klement estate last october.

Its due its first mot in july - it was put up for sale by my workplace so i got a good deal on it. Its one of the best cars i have ever had.

Recently the coolant warning light has been coming on.

I top up the coolant bu after a few days the light comes on again!

I have heard that the water pump is connected to the timing belt? Is this correct?

Do i need to get the timing belt replaced ?

If so how much & does anybody recommend a garage in the glasgow area?

Cheers

GazS

Does it have a stamped up service history to date? If so, look for a check mark that the "toothed belt" has been replaced somewhere between 40_000 and 80_000 miles. If you don't see one, and the car is over 40_000 miles, it probably wants doing, in which case get a plastic impellor water pump replaced at the same time.

No idea about costs, cos my cambelt was done at the service before I bought the car.

Happy to recommend "Queensborough Motors" (May now be Henry Bros) in Clarence Drive, about 2 minutes walk from Hyndland Station (so easy access to central Glasgow etc).

welcome to briskoda.
