Locks Flicking on handbrake

Featured Replies

When I release the handbrake before I move off the door locks seem to flick, not properly lock, just click in a kinda of cha cha way rather than the usual clunk.

Sorry for the odd description, but does anybody any clues as to what this might be?

I've made sure I'm not catching the door release button when doing the handbrake and it still does it.

Thanks

Does it sound the same as when you press the unlock button when the doors are already unlocked? They don't make the locking sound as usual but a sort of half locking noise? The switch is near the handbrake so could it be an iffy switch triggered by the handbrake releasing?

Either that or a really odd electical/electronic problem :rubchin:

Yeah I guess, it doesn't even sound as strong as that...

I hope it is just an iffy switch, as if the locks were operated by the can system that would be odd an expensive.

I wonder if any faults have been logged, maybe a VAG-COM techy can shed some light on it.

I'm hoping something is logged or it can be found.

All sorted in the end, the wiring to the lock switch must have been snagged when a dealer had that trim off. This was being rubbed by the handbrake causing the effect noticed.

All fixed with new wiring :)
