Best try it against a standard one then.....

sounds like a challenge?:D

Mine is petrol :)

The actual URL is - mod edit. removed as wrong url

What about emissions?

A further advantage of the new add-on electronic control units with multi map technology is their compliance with vehicle emissions standards. Through enhanced burning in all areas of vehicle performance, the fuel is 100% efficiently used, with soot and smoke being things of the past. Because of this, unrestricted installation of the modules is also possible in vehicles with diesel particle filter engines.

Thanks for your contribution Dodgy but the link you gave is for a different company who i chose not to consider because the gain is less and their credentials are questionable. Also the kind of vehicles they are working with (A8 4.2 V8) are impressive. They just seem more professional.

The link i reccomended remains:

http://dieseltuning.co.uk/

Thanks, Dave

Dave,

Apologies, your link doesn't work for me, so I googled for the name of the company.

Dave.

Link still doesn't work.

Dave.

Doesn't work for me either

Mate has a new Leon FR and that 170bhp, and it feels the same. Is Bloody quick

I've always had good results with dragon tuning boxes.

I'm still having difficulties believing these tuning boxes (that overfuel to achieve the BHP gains) don't create issues with the DPF. They appear to be pretty temperamental on thier own without the added bonus of extra fuel being dumped into the engine :rubchin:

Every car i've ever had with a tuning box has smoked considerably which will surely upset the filter and the associated sensors.

Hopefully I will be proven wrong though ;)

Ok, the link was dead for a few days because they were updating their servers but all is well now or seems to be.

All i can say is make sure the site is 'Spider diesel tuning' and not 'DTUK'

Dudes

Mine's not listed :(

This all may be true but i'm not really that concerned with massive power gain just a little bit of improvement. If someone's looking for the power then just change the turbo as it's apparently the weakest point of the engine from a tuning perspective.

After all the octavia is almost perfect, or mine is anyway!

I always remember something that a famous tuner called Bill Richards said to me when i was trying to 'eek' out 100Bhp from my mini cooper(the real one),

"power gains are no quik fix".

If you're looking at spending

The Octavia vRS TDi isn't listed. And besides, it's way too much money for a plug in box.

With any tuning box you should try a 'brim to brim' test to accurately gauge fuel consumption, the box is happily overfuelling downstream of the ECU and this slightly skews the computer MPG readout.

Either way, tuning boxes are great fun :D

Edit: I've just seen this is the mother of all thread revivals
