I'm new and need your input

I planning on buying a 1.9 Octavia Elegence auto estate, also thought about lease plans.

Also thought about the 2.0 petrol version, but thought the deisel would be best ??

i will get flamed for saying this, but it seems that even tho they cost more diesel is the way to go now

I would think that given the fact you want an auto the diesel would give you a smoother driving experience.

I'd go for the Auto derv.

Worth noting is that the 2.0 FSI is due for replacement by a 1.8TFSI engine in the not too distant future.

Welcome by the way :)

Hello and welcome. Go for the diesal, they are the way forward.

Hello & welcome :)

Yup, Diesel is the best option.

Welcome to Briskoda

Hi, welcome, go for the diesel.

Also, are you the Tiger Tim Stevens from Old Kilpatrick, or just another guy using the same name?

I've just adapted a spreadsheet that I have used in the past for similar comparisons.

It compares the fuel cost per month of different cars, depending on your annual mileage, the manufacturer's combined mpg data (although you can put your own figures in depending on the type of roads you drive most) and typical fuel prices.

From the example shown, and based on 10k miles per year the petrol would cost

Well andy2407 - that is comprehensive homework,( to you ) if TigerTim cant make a decision with this addition, then maybe he should just keep asking questione :D:)

Andy, if you're going to quote acceleration times, wouldn't something people actually do like 50 to 70 mph in top and 30 to 70 mph through the gears be more useful than 0 to 100kph?

I just quoted the "headline" figures that are typically given in brochures, magazines, TV programmes etc.

I agree that the figures you mention might be of more interest to some people, but they can all be found fairly easilyy - if not in the brochure then by searching on here or by a bit of googling.

IMHO the figures I quoted are the most common and therefore what people have a feel for. I personally have no idea what my 50-70mph time is, or what would be considered good or bad.

And finally I suggested driving both cars - which is more important than any amount of figures.

Be careful when you help people andy2407, you might get slated for it!

I have 2.0TDI estate with DSG, lovely car, have a look at that one too if I were you.
