Hi everybody, just became owner of Octavia estate 04, very useful for my fishing trips, i have 1 small problem, it's sometimes difficult to get into 1st gear when stopped other wise very pleased.

Hiya.

Did you know that Octys have hydraulic clutches?

If not , then you might be surprised by my suggesting that you might need the clutch bleeding, or possibly a new slave cylinder. Fortunately, there's an easy test for that. Select first gear and just sit with the h/b off and the clutch pedal full down. If the car tries to move in under 60s, you need a new slave cylinder.

The other thing to try is possibly a gear oil change (not in schedule). Probably not this if the car's under 50_000 miles though.
