Spare Wheel in a 4x4

Featured Replies

A question was asked at my dealers today which no one seemed to have a definative answer. The Octy 4x4 (not the Scout!) has a space saver spare wheel but a customer requested a full size spare, would this fit in the well of the boot?

For the record, I said it would'nt because of the space taken up by the 4x4 running gear but that was only deduced from logic rather than fact!.

It didnt matter on the Octy 1

Are you sure its a space saver, The Superb comes with what looks like a space saver, ie black wheel with ferkin great yellow stickers on it but its actually a 16" full size steel with a low rated tyre on it, must have saved about

Shouldnt matter on the Octavia 2 as the independant rear axle is the same size be it 2 or 4wd.

It states in the brochure that it's a 'space saver' but does'nt say exactly what it is!

Would have looked ourselves.............................if they had one to look at which is why I'm asking the question

In my 4x4 2007 Octy is the spare wheel a standard wheel (16")

Mine isn't

Pretty sure mines a space saver but must say I have never checked, only gone in there to get the locking wheel nut key when changing the tyres. I'm just assuming it is because a great big polystyrene thing holding the jack etc. lays on to of it.
