I have a 2.5V6 TDI manual and i havent got hore than 34mpg yet according to the trip computer and thats including motorway driving!!! It has been re-mapped but that shouldn't effect it that much should it??!!

Do what i did fill the tank set your trip to zero and see what milage you get from a full tank,if its around 520+ miles your instrument panel is faulty.If its still in warranty get it back to the dealers and have a new one fitted. HTH.

And if the instrument panel is OK, then there is either a problem with the car or your driving. And I can't see it being likely that your driving style would have such a big impact.

Your mpg should certainly be a lot better than is being reported atm/

We went to Snowdonia for a week's holiday last week - went up a 1:6 hill for 1.5 miles,four bikes on the top and a totally full boot,so very laden with stuff and the read out was showing 5.1mpg at times!!

Overall we averaged 29mpg and I am usually doing circa 36mpg.

Car needs service and will have it this week and so hope it is all round a little fitter....

new tiptronic 31 mpg on commute - 45 on motorway trip at speed of 70ish, my last 2.5 manual would be 37 and about 46 respectively. so on long distance cruise not much different - if they had set box betterr for manual selection could achieve more on tip but as pointed out above u can only select 5th at 40 when the manual will pull in 6th at 25. However everything is effortless so i suppose thats the price u pay
