Hi everyone, im looking to uprate my frount brakes at some point.

unfortunately i dont have much dosh so i was wondering what my options are? would different disks(same size) and pads improve the braking? if so which one to go for and how much will it set me back?

312mm would be ideal but i think they will cost a fortune and i dont really no what i need to buy for a straight swap, any suggestions would be much appreciated

I'm very happy with my new ZeroSixty / Mintex Extreme setup, but they weren't cheap, by any means! Second-hand 312s come along from time-to-time, which will probably work out cheaper (I think there may even be a set for sale on here), but there weren't any available that I could find when I got my brakes done. And believe me, they needed to be done!!! Plus, I wasn't sure how they'd fit behind my standard wheels, but apparently that's not an issue.

Don't know if that's actually any help, but my 2ps all the same...

You only need carriers and new discs IIRC.

I bought these discs for my octy and they come with new pads:

You would only have to source some carriers.

If you're on a tight budget (you don't mention how much you have to play with) just some uprated pads on the standard discs will show a dramatic improvement....

I was going on new prices from memory, and thought the brackets were more like

you need calipers and the brackets to fit 312mm brakes

see if GolfTurbo on here or on Ebay has any , but i seem to remember he was getting low on stock

OMP do some competition pads for the fabia vRS calipers. Plus some super dot 4 ot dot 5.1 and your sorted.

Thanks guys, i think 312's r gunna have to be the way, il only end up doing them at a later stage and then money i wud av spent on uprating the standard size wil b wasted.

disks and pads seem cheap then on ebay, is it just disks, pads and callipiers i need then? Sorry im not mechanicly minded at all, and i cant spell!

will the octy mk1 callipiers fit straight on or can any1 rekonmend which callipiers to get and where i can get them? Id do a google search but like i say i dont hav a clue what im looking for:doh:

No good, they are the smaller FSIII brake calipers the carrier is integral to the hub.
