Fabia Roof Racks

Featured Replies

I'm thinking about getting a roof rack for my Fabia VRS to accommodate my Mountain Bike. How easy is it to remove a roof rack once fitted? I have noticed the points where it will fix into the roof, do they cover up again if you take it off? Any advice tips would be much appreciated.

I don't want to have to get one but its my only real option, as the shape of my bike frame doesn't fit a boot mounted rack, the other option is to carry it inside the car but Mountain Bikes and light grey seats don't mix well!!!

To save any hassle I just tend to fold the rear seats down and put a cover in the boot and over the top of the front seats. With the front wheel off my bike normally goes in nice and snug, then you can chuck the cloth over the front seats back over the bike.

I guess problem may arise if you come back from a ride with 5kg of mud hanging off the bike everywhere. :D Park next to a tap and carry a 12V karcher pressure washer...

I originally thought about buying a rack too but in the end I used a bike bag only about 40 quid and it was just the job.

went for a very wet and muddy ride in the lakes last weekend and didn't get any mud/dirts on those white seats.

All you do is take both wheels out the bike, pack it in the bag, drop the back seats and put the bag in the back.

very impressed.

I dunno why I didn't think of this in my first post but is there not a hatch rack that goes on the boot? I have one, but it's not very compatible due to strap location problems. :(

Yes but you have to be careful with it. I used one on my previous Fabia and after only one use it had taken the paint away from a small part of the boot.

I added extra "spongey" bits to mine, but it's still rusting away in the garage - shows how often I go out with the intention of riding the MTB eh?

Well, as you live on the edge of Dartmoor (prison???), there is not really any need for the bike rack surely???.

And my rack was covered in spongy bits but still managed it.

I find my estate fits the bike in very well personally i would never carry my bike on the outside of my car due to its cost.
