Brake pads

Featured Replies

Just got some new Mintex pads to do 312mm conversion. They are heavily chamfered. Is that normal and I was wondering why? Seems the pad surface area would get larger as they wear down, therefore the brakes would get better?

Even on my standard replacement pads I noticed they have a more chamfered edge to them, than I have seen on other pads for previous cars (306, felicia, nova, etc)

Perfectly normal. The rears are the same too.

Thanks for the reassurance - just looked odd compared to previous cars I've done - well out of practice!

My mintex had big chamfers on them.

Helps bedding in and stops brake squeal.
