Octavia 90 TDI Intermittent Instrument panel

Featured Replies

Hi, i'm wondering if anyone has come accross the speedo and rev counter intermittently cutting out? Actually, it is more like intermittently cutting in now! Driving along, it will cut in/out if i hit a bump, and i have no idea what is causing it I have taken the car for a diagnostic check, and the garage told me they could not find a fault, so i tried changing the instrument panel (second hand one) this only allows me to stay running, if i change them while started, but if i shut off the engine, i cannot start again with the new instrument panel (but all the clocks work). It only appears to be the dials that are affected (Speedo, Revs, fuel and temp gague) the digital displays still work, and it is still regestering the miles. Also i changed the electronic sensor on the gearbox(for the rev counter), this made no difference either. anyone come accross this or anything similar, or anyone got any suggestions ??????

Just to let you know you are not alone, I have got the exact same problem. Have we discovered a design fault here I ask myself?

By the way, the reason your engine keeps cutting out when you try and install the Second Hand Panel is that the Immobiliser is cutting in, as this is all part of it. Once the Panel is installed it has to be programmed by your dealer, costing about £65. If they can't get you one way, they will get you another!!!

big problem on audi tt's apparently.

Just a thought
