VRS Diesel?

Featured Replies

Hi, Im new to the forum...

I currently have a 225 Leon Cupra R but will soon be getting a company car. Just wondering whether to go for a VRS Diesel. I really like the look of it, and I have driven a Golf with the 170 engine and was quite impressed.

Opinions?

Me likey.

Me likey better when it says 204 BHP on the tin ;)

Already!?!?!?!?!

You only just got it didn't you!?!?!?!

As the sig says 16/7 - already booked with my 10% discount ;)

and hey the DPF only last so long anyway!!

Just need to run it in .. slowly ... slowly ... argh! PEDAL TO THE METAL ... no must go slower ... slowly ... etc etc

Wow, pretty expensive chip (

I thought

Let us know how you get on with it!?

Dave.

Go to dealer and ask to test drive the 170 diesel.

I have driven both the Golf and the Octy, the Golf feels nippier as it kickes the torque in for about 500 rpm then smoothes out , the delivery in the Octy feels smoother from around 2k RPM, you dont get the kick.

Do different PD170's have slightly different maps depending on what VAG car they are in?

Or is it the varying test car mileages making the difference?

Not wanting to put the frighteners on but you might want to read this before making a decision...................

PD170 Engine Problems

Hi they have been alot of issues with superchips map of the 170 DPF check this thread out from cupra.net

FR TDi remaps - SEAT Cupra.net

SuperChips are now on their 2nd generation map for the PD170 (released last month).

Version 2 is supposed to have ironed out the problems with the first map.

(bearing in mind that there have also been some revisions/developments in the last year on VAG's side of the equation for the PD170 engine/dpf issues).

The SuperChips map across the rev range has been changed (with one example being the reduction in outright max power from 213/216 to 201/204 BHP/PS).

I sent many emails to Constantin in SuperChips HQ technical sales to confirm warranty and other service/product issues. Bottom line they would warranty the map/engine for 3 years and would revert to VW/Skoda original map if there was a problem.

So worst case scenario: engine blows up - they pay, map fails - they revert to original and I get my money back.

Cant really see what else they can offer/do?
