Octy Scout towbar

Featured Replies

I am ordering an Octavia Scout diesel Tuesday, but have been told the towbar will be a problem, and I will have to wait until they design & manufacture a new one. I tow a caravan so if it means they will never make one, I need to reconsider my options.

Evidently, as the Scout sits 17mm higher than the normal 4x4, the tow ball height will be incorrect.

Slightly concerned here, what is the history of this sort of situation with Skoda? Do they get on with it & solve the problem, or am I likely to be waiting for years for one to come out for a fairly specialist car that cannot be worth doing a lot of R&D for? Could an independant towbar company fit it? (The CANbus system I believe is a problem for them)

Thanks for the welcome, and advice. I will talk to my local towbar fitter about it I think.

Hi there...towbar for Scout is currently being test fitted, you should find it will be available within the next few weeks.

From personal experience wait for the Skoda approved bar.

Enjoy the car!

Yep, think I will wait for the Skoda one - heard some rumours about aftermarket guys mucking up the electrics!

Gone are the days you could splice into the rear light cables & throw some insulting tape around the joints...

the standard 4x4 fits fine, my husband got ours from towsure and fitted it himself with skoda electrics. skoda are then going to programme the electrics at no charge

Does anyone have any update information on which towbar would be best for the Scout, aftermarket guys still unsure?

Anyone with an answer and price???

Still seems to be very much in the air this one - I was given the details of these guys by my dealer as they were the same crowd that fits towbars for them aswell, but after making enquiries they didn't have one available for the Scout?

I mentioned to them that some people were saying that the one for the standard Octy 4x4 can also be used & they disagreed saying that it would still be too high?

The saga continues......

Mine was fitted by the dealer - but I suspect it is the standard 4x4 towbar, as my caravan seemed a tad nose high, until I put bikes, kayaks, family & tons of holiday stuff in it.

However, it is non the worse for it and tows my trailer and caravan perfectly well.

The Octavia Scout has just won its class in The Caravan Club Towcar of the Year so a towbar must be available for it! I would make sure I got a Skoda towbar.

On another thread I started, I discovered that you can factory order a detachable towbar for the 2 litre TDi 4 x 4 and it is around

The part number you need is ZGB1Z3092101S

Can only be used with a single socket...

Ta!
