superb power drops at 60mph

Featured Replies

Hi have a superb 100 td1 when you are say joining the motorway the power drops and it take forever to build up the speed it also does it from cold starting used to go like a rocket now not anymore now the technical minded superb owners any ideas before I start chucking money at the problem by the bucket load (oh had the mass Airflow sensor thingy replaced)

barr this its been a great car and when it behaves it still goes well even though its at 212,000 miles......:D and 5 year old.

Could be many things, but sounds like the turbo. If it is, you may need another mortgage. I had similar symptoms with a SAAB once; I ended up getting rid of it.

Probably MAF sensor. Remove cover from air inlet ducting and MAF sensor is visible right on top in the inlet trunking leading to the turbocharger compressor inlet. Simply unplug it and take the car for a drive. If it performs better, the MAF is faulty. Use Bosch ones from GSF.

rotodiesel.

thanks for the info will give it a bash maybe time to buy another new one sad as Im kind of attached to sally (sad to name your cars I know)

I would say given the mileage it might well be sticky VNT vanes myself.

Also at that age, might be worth checking the conditions of the hoses under the bonnet in case they have split.....
