CD Changer (again)

Featured Replies

First of all, hello!

Been lurking around these parts since buying my '04 Octy VRS back in June but this is my first post.

First thing I decided when I got the car was that I wanted to change the stereo but was put off by the posts on here that said you couldn't control the factory fitted CD Changer with any other head unit. Well I was having a browse on the skoda accessories website and came across;

ZGB705052906 - factory autochanger adaptor

Tried contacting the dealer today but couldn't get through. Anyone know anything about it? Could it be the solution many (well, some) of us have been looking for?

Getting ahead of myself a bit, but if I did change the HU would I also need one of these:

035SNY106 - antenna booster

One thing I definately need to change is the speakers as the drivers door one makes a horrible vibrating noise when the volume gets anything close to loud. I want direct replacement component speakers and was after some recommendations. Would three ways with seperate tweeters be best or are the tweeters a PITA to get at?

Any info would be very useful!

Ok, able to answer part of my post myself.

After a long chat with the parts guy at my local dealer I was able to discover the following;

The Autochanger Adaptor above is made by Blaupunkt and will enable you to use the built in changer with any new blaupunkt head unit. Cost inc vat

Just thought I'd update my own post in case anyones interested.

I now have a smart brand-spanking-new Blaupunkt Queens HU fitted and working perfectly with the skoda 6 disc cd changer in the boot.

Took about 15 minutes to do, really simple and no problems.

If anyone is interested in the details (my original post was met with none!) let me know and I'll write up what you need and how to do it in more detail.

One thing I meet need some help with, I havn't had much of a chance to play with the new HU yet but on my way to work this morning I got it to auto-tune the fm stations and reception and quality were very good. Then tried the mw stations and couldn't receive anything.

Anyone else had any problems with mw on a new HU they've fitted in an octy? Any suggestions as to what it might be? I know there's something in the Blaupunkt manual about regional tuning settings so I'll explore that later.

TBH I'd be interested in seeing/reading how you did it.

Always useful to know as I'm not 100% with the music system.

Cheers

Did you fit the booster for the aerial?

Hi,

Looking at possibly doing this with the furby. Does the CD changer work for MP3s?
