what size speakers do we have ??

Featured Replies

right guys obv everyone is a lil annoyed with the stock setup

so my question is what size speakers do we have in the octy vrs

i personally have the 8 speaker setup. now if i were to replace these what sizes am i looking for on websites?

many thanks for all concerned

The fronts are 17cm's, but the big issue with the mk1 octy is depth. Most standard 17cm speakers will not fit in the door due to various obstructions including the window mechanism. If you can find some with shallow magnets you should be ok.

I think the rears are 13cm, but tbh you dont really need to replace those. Just disconnect the tweeters in the back doors, and replace the fronts is all you need.

tbh the tweeters in the rear doors dont bother me. would 2 sets of components do the trick

Fitted my Rainbow CS 265 profi's today and they require 66mm mounting depth and they are 17 cm's ,only minor modification needed to the doors with a dremmel and they fitted a treat and all under the standard covers. Also used 5 sheets of Stinger roadkill per door aswell.Sound ok considering its on the standard HU,but will be excellent when the amp is fitted.

2 sets of components will certainly do the trick.

what "mod" did you do with the dremmel?

Removed the corner of the lower bracket that holds the slider rail for the window(and repainted the bare edge). And repositioned the speaker slightly more forward compared to the original. It will be worth it just to use a better a much deeper speaker. The ones that are original fit are rubbish the cones are like tissue paper and the magnet is like a fridge magnet.

Hi mate

According to the very friendly bloke at sextons yesterday an adapter bracket can be used from the mk4 golf for the front speakers. This should solve any space issues. The rears are just a straight swap. Hope this helps.

My smilies aren't working-so thumbs up!!

so the rears are 13cm jobbies. how do you get the speakers out. can u take the mesh off with out removing door cards.

i hate door cards with a passion

Even with the adaptor bracket you are limited to depth i used the standard mount and moved it forward and sealed it to the door skin using lots of sound deadening and fibreglass filler.I have also run in all new cabling to the doors and mounted the crossover in the kick panels .

that sounds like a proper install. maybe not a diy job

The front grills are just clipped in around the edge, gently prise them out to reveal the speaker.

thanks

Just seeen these infinity components.

anyone had any experience with them

Infinity 6510CS - Car Audio from Bassjunkies

I have the 5010cs they which look identical to those they sound good but the door needs damping. But they are an improvement over the standard sqeekers but i Ihave an kenwood 808 HU powering them which helps out a lot.

Plus side is they fit straight in with no cutting and they come with a spacer which sits lovely in between them and the door

And i got them for half that price on ebay pm for details

i had a set of rainbow dreamline slx components in the front of my octy, they sounded excellent and had a set of pioneers in the back which were better than the originals.

anyone know what size the fabia takes? hoping the speakers i had in the octy will fit in the fabia also.
