Bypassing TV safety feature ?

Featured Replies

I have rigged a roof mounted DVD player into the front screen via AUX and it works a treat except the safety feature that cuts out the image as the car moves off. I understand how this is done but does anyone have any ideas as to how it could be bypassed without having to buy a pretty expensive bypass box (prices seem to vary from

on after market items you simply earth the screen signal wire or what ever its called.

I have a switch in-line with my AUX functions that allows me to decide when the signal for the screen is on and off and not the ignition.....

Thanks for the reply. Could you explain in a bit more detail how rigged this so I can have a chat with my ICE installer and see if it's possible with my system. Thx

It's difficult to explain mate as I have a VW multimedia box inbetween my MFD and PS2 with this switch inbetween them so I am unsure how it would work on your set up...

It's basically a VW/Audi/Skoda mutlimedia interface box that allows me to play my PS2 through the AUX function on my DX unit......I bought a unit similar to the following as this one is only for MFD2, although not from Ebay:

Multimedia Audio Video Adapter, VW / Audi - MFD2 & RNS2 on eBay GPS Accessories, Navigation GPS, In-Car Entertainment GPS, Cars, Parts Vehicles (item 230167859060 end time 07-Sep-07 22:53:48 BST)
