Octy vRS (mk2) parking sensors

Featured Replies

Hi Folks,

Just a quick question to ask if anyone with a new shape Octy vRS has ever retro fitted rear parking sensors at all? I am taking delivery of a low mileage Octy vRS mk2 this week sometime and the car, whilst having lots of extra goodies, does not have rear sensors fitted. I asked the dealer and was told they are factory fitted only. Not saying I don't believe them but my current vehicle didn't have them before I bought it but the garage happily fitted them for me before sale.

It's not a 'deal-breaker' by any means, just would be nice to have them fitted. Ideally I would like them colour coded too. I know I should probably just learn to park properly but have got used to them as I have now had a couple of cars with them fitted.

Any help or advice is greatly appreciated,

cheers

Hugh

I just had rear sensors retrofitted because the bl00dy factory forgot to fit them - the after-sales version is totally different from factory-fitted and IT SUCKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Factory-fitted it's integrated into the radio - lowers the volume and puts a display on the screen.

Aftersales version - a shocking chad valley (not even fisher price) style fit - sounds like effing metal mickey on steroids - they screw that little buzzer thingy to the centre of the ceiling of the car just insude the boot lid - it is horrible - am having conversations with sales manager at dealership as I am NOT happy - which is a bl00dy shame because it's spoilt what is otherwise a brilliant car. If not factory fitted i'd avoid it.

Thanks for the tip sadoksevoli, I'm not all too fussed re the sensors and certainly don't fancy my new (ish) vRS getting butchered!

Cheers for now,

Hugh

Sounds like they made a hash of your ones mate.

I had them fitted at my dealership a while back and couldnt be happier with them.

The beep beep sound is fine and the unit itself is hidden in the car not attached to the ceiling.

the sensors on the rear bumper are a little bigger than the factory ones but not terrible looking. Yes you dont get the display on the radio but I think that is an unnecessary thing anyway, who looks at the radio when reversing?

Fancy screwing it to the centre of the ceiling, animals! something you really want to have visible in your rear view mirror.

It is visible in the rear view mirror but it looks crap and sounds crap - i had an elegance so know what the factory fitted version is like and this ust does nto compare.
