Superb Performance

Featured Replies

Hi all, just spent 6 hrs reading 800 odd posts. Can't seem to find any posts regarding major performance mods. Has anyone uprated their internals for major performance increase? Can anyone point me in the right direction? Maybe on a Passat or Audi with the same engine that has achieved more than 200bhp?

Any links?

Regards to all.

What engine are you interested in?

most diesels are the same as the ones in the octavia/fabia, so for tuning see them.....petrol is a bit different but I will have a look.

1.9 tdi 130bhp. I bought it second hand and the turbo has been changed and it flies compared to other Superbs that I have driven. The dealer agrees that it is much faster than others but doesn't know why. I thought that maybe when the Turbo was changed, that they replaced it with something different by mistake, but they rekon its the right one. There is a very big difference compared to others.

Any help, highly appreciated.

Thanks

I believe the turbo on the superb pd 130 is slightly larger anyway but it could very easily have been remapped up to 180bhp .....best way to find out how much power you have is to put it on a rolling road.......there should be a rolling road day mentioned on here somewhere in your area....or take it to one o f the specialist tuners ....like jabba o0r Awesome and they may be able to tell you what map is on the ECU

Thanks Octy, but I am located in Malta. The car has definately not been mapped as the previous owner was the dealer and I very much doubt that he has chipped it. I know him quite well. Could it be that when the Turbo was changed maybe the actuator shaft has a few more turns on it. Could that be the reason?

Do you know of any other modified Suberb 130's. I would like to find a list or post of what mods have been made. I'm looking to spend about 2,000stg on it and would like something between 200-300bhp. I presently own 8 cars and will sell one to fund this project. One of them is an Volvo 850 Tdi which I am told has an Audi 2.5 engine. Would it be better to transplant this engine to have a larger cc to build on?

Regards

Julian.

Noted you have posted again on this subject - it'd have been bumped to the top if you'd have just thanked Octygone! Anyway....If you know the dealer that well, can he confirm whether a standard of "larger" turbo was fitted when the original blew?? There are many, many remapped Superbs discussed on here, and as noted these are producing upto 180bhp, which IMHO without modding brakes, clutch, box, suspension etc. is probabaly what you'd max on a standard chassis.

Cheers Numskull, I'll book it on a rolling road and see what its producing. Just fitted Rs6 alloys with 225/45/17 tyres, looking good.

Deffo think that's the best way forward Julian... 45's eh... bet that's hardened the ride a bit!?

Here's a pic of mine on 225/45/17 makes it handle a lot better

I would'nt know about the harsh ride. I put the wheels on, it looks great, but the damm thing will not move. Either my handbrake's jammed or it needs spacers. I almost burnt the clutch trying to get it to move. Tomorrow I am going to try putting spacers on the back wheels.

Thanks Num, nice picture Octy.

Julian

ps I'll post a picture.

I suspect, looking at Octygones' car that you have a little more of a problem than spacers! Good Luck and hope you find the cause of it's reluctance to move!

It sounds like the offset is wrong on your wheels and they are touching on the suspension

I put spacers on the back wheels and rotated them will it was jacked. Got in the car to try and it seems the front ones are looked. So jacked up the fronts and put spacers. It now moves, the car seems a bit tighter now. Tyres fitted are 225/ 45/ 17.

Still looking for ways to exceed the 200bhp mark. Any suggestions?

Thought you were going to get it dyno'd to check the current BHP, Julian?

Forgot to mention, I had the rubber black bump stop things, the ones on the 4 dorrs, front and back bumbers sprayed white, the same colour as the car. That and the new wheels have transformed it. It looks more luxurious and bigger now. Must find the time to tak some pics and post them.

Regards

Julian.
