Servicing help neede

Featured Replies

Hello to Skoda owners. I'm not used to these sites and I think I have posted a question in the incorrect section. I live in Oldham, my Octavia 20 valve turbo is 4 yrs. old, and due it's 2nd. service, the dealers arn't that accesible in Bury and Cheetham Hill, and I'm trying to find someone in the oldham surrounds, who is a reliable individual/company to service the car. Also, I feel dealer charges are ridiculously expensive, and I'm paying for a 'name'. I am under the impression that ONLY dealers have the diagnostic 'machine' to link to the vehicle, to trouble-shoot, is this correct ? and can non-dealers re-set the dashboard 'service indications' system ? Can anyone advise please ? Regards David.

Hi There

We are in Irlam in Manchester

We are VAG specialists too

I myself was a service manager for Skoda dealers for 5 and half years

It sounds like you are on long life service , myself personally am not a fan of long life services , but it is not a problem

We have the facilities here to diagnose all faults on the engine management

The full service that your car requires on a long life service would be £200.00 + VAT

The brake fluid will also be required as this is due every 2 years at £59.00 + VAT

Also required approx 4 years or 60k miles would be the cam belt

We advise that the cam belt , tensioner and the water pump is replaced at the same time

The water pumps on the 1.8T engines are plastic and have been known to fail at the same time as the cam belts are due

The water pumps cost approx £25 - £30 and only take an extra half hour in labour so we do it at the same time

The cost of this is £295.00 + VAT and that includes an uprated water pump

If I can help you in any way please feel free to give me a shout back

We are VAT registered and use equal quality parts so we can service cars that are still covered in the SUK warranty with no problems at all

Sarah
