Cor am I confused!

I have a Fabia 2001 and I'm ordering a load of audio stuff for it tommorrow (13cm Infinity Kappas etc) but... I checked a while back and found out from this forum that the door pods hold 13 cm speakers. Though when I checked tonight i found that they were 16cm and that the pods arnt deep enough for most aftermarket magnets. So please put me out of my miserey and tell me what size they are and if I can get 13cm speakers in there.

Cheers guys

Yes, I have fitted 16cm speakers.

But it is a bugger to fit - if you've taken off the door cards, you'll notice the OEM speaker is mounted on a plastic baffle so it sticks out towards the inside of the car. This is done because there is the window guide just behind the silver metal sheet, where the hole for the speaker is. There's a max of 2cm from the front of the silver plate to the guide, so if your speakers are 6cm deep, you'll need a 4cm baffle, if they're 7cm deep, you'll need a 5cm baffle, etc. However, you're also limited on the thickness of the baffle so that you still have left enough space to put the door card back on.

If the speakers are more than 7cm deep, you're not going to have room - you'll need to cut through the door card and have some kind of pod sticking out onto which you can mount the speaker.

I'll post some pictures this weekend if you want.

Yeah I wouldnt mind seeing some of them pics tfboy. Im in the same situation. Want to upgrade my fronts, but after reading some of the threads am a little confused.

Can I just confirm. The standard fronts are 13cm?

Edit: PS:what size are the rears?

In real money, the fronts are 6,5" and the rears are 3" or 4" (165mm front, roughly 90 - 120mm rear)

OK, so I was still a little confused, so I went out and measured them. The fronts as standard on my VRS are 13cm, which is 5,1/4" in old money. The rears are 4" old money, which is 10cm in new money.
