Towing with a vRS Petrol...

Featured Replies

As the title says really..

Does anyone tow with a Petrol vRS, in particular, the estate model..?

I'm wondering how they find it regards towing something like a caravan, or what vRS Diesel owners find towing like....

Octavia II RS TDI (Diesel)

Works fine, 2 000 miles this summer.

Octygone used to tow with a Mk1 Octy VRS for a while and he wasn't all that impressed IIRC.

It will tow quite well ....but a pd 130 diesel will run rings round it and do twice as a many mpg.

Octy one did win towcar of the year so will be stable all through the model range

Sorry only towed with a h/back 2.0 tdi, had no problems towing 1300kg.

Just bought a vRS diesel Estate. Towed with it twice now. Very happy with its stability and the power was amazing despite only having 1000 miles on the clock. (Towing a caravan at just under 1200Kg).

I would rekon the diesel is the choice for towing as the petrol has noticably less torque.

I tow a 1345kg caravan with my petrol vRS estate. Its ok but a little thirsty. On the way back from Caen this year we were getting 15mpg at 70mph. At A road speeds we get around 20mpg.

When it comes up for replacement in 18 months I will be looking for a diesel due to the caravan (unfortunately).

Thanks for the info guys.

I did used to tow with a Mk1 vRS and it did struggle a bit. I currently tow with a V6 TDi Superb which is great, but I do miss the thrill and fun of the Petrol monster.

I am looking at car replacement next year, and I am really interested in the vRS 2 Petrol. as long as it can cope with the wieight, without the clutch being too smokey, then it will be my next car..

Octy Scout just won the under 1800kg class in the Caravan Club for this year.

Never had a problem towing with my old 130pd L&K estate.

Havent towed yet with my new one, only a few weeks though.
