New Octavia 2.0 TDI L & K Import

Featured Replies

Hello all - I am new to this so hope I am putting everything in the right place. I took delivery of my new Octavia from Motorpoint two days ago and am as happy as a pig in pooh with it. Went to the car supermarket intending to come away with a new Mondeo but was so impressed by the Octavia with all the L & K trimmings that I could not resist.

I know it is an import from Malta. As far as I can tell, apart from the fact that it only appears to have 8 speakers and not 12, I can find no other differences to the UK spec. Does anyone know if there are any other differences and, if so, what they are?

Probably only has a 2 year warrentee instead of the UKs 3 years

Thanks. You are right. Still very happy though as the saving in price more than makes up for the cost of extending the warranty (paid £15.6 k).

If it's the 'new' L&K (>Feb 2007) It will only have 8 speakers as standard in addition to the Audience Stereo.

Sounds like a very good price either way.

Thanks. It is the new L & K with audience radio etc. So apart from the warranty it appears exactly the same spec as UK ones. Love the car. Still poring through the manual and keep discovering more clever tricks. After spending weeks reading through Whatcar and other car review websites & magazines, cannot think why the Octavia did not jump out at me in the first place as it certainly ticks all the boxes for someone with a young family.

Indeed it is a good car, did you get the floor mats and L&K strips on the front door sills where you get in?

Other than that as long as the spec matches the offical one on the Skoda UK site you would appear to have an excellent bargain there.

Do you have the light leather interior?

if you havent done already then dont forget to get your car registered with skoda so you can use your warranty if you need it. Cant remember whether you contact cust services or a dealer and it costs around £20 (ish)

Thanks for all responses. It did indeed come with floor mats, L & K strips on front door sills and light leather interior embossed with L & K logo (don't know how the light leather is going to hole up to three young children though).

I will check with dealer about getting it registered with Skoda UK first thing Monday.

Have a look at http://www.briskoda.net/forums/new-octavia/new-octavia-tips-tricks/55750/ for some more tips and tricks, if you haven't seen it already.

The only thing I can recall about imports is that some of them have the headlights permanently on as driving lights - may need a dealer or VAG-COM to turn that off.

I also have the light leather interior and as a mobile service engineer the car is used almost 7 days a week. To keep the seats nice and clean you want some Gliptone Liquid Leather (ebay is your friend!). Get the cleaner and conditioner.

Recommended on this very forum and it's brilliant.
