Electric Seat not going to and fro...

Featured Replies

Erm, help.

I currently own a Superb 1.9 PD130 on an 03 plate. It has just turned 100,000 miles, and with it, the front passenger electric seat has started playing up.

Forget the inuendo's a moment please...

Yes the seat can go up and down no problem, reclining works fine, but to and fro no longer works.

Drivers side gets more use and that has not shown signs of a problem.

Has anyone else had this problem?

Are there any suggestions?

Fuse checked and okay.

Thanking you all kindly in advance

Happy Driver

As you none else has replied, I will offer the bleedin' obvious (© J Cleese); as you have 'only' lost some of the seat functionality, it sounds as if that particular motor that controls the fore-and-aft movement has failed, or its wiring is faulty.

Underneath the seat are quite a few multipin plugs for the electric operation, seat heaters etc, have you checked they are all pushed in tight? Stick your head in the footwell and they are actually not too difficult to see. Both sides and all seat movements are on the same fuse (I believe) so it is either a specific motor, a specific switch or a multipin plug.

Problem Solved - A wire was disconnected.

but why and how I am unsure - I have checked them all and am happy that there will be no repeat.

Thank you all.

I unhooked a plug with an ice scraper that I kept under the seat! I have heard of the rear passengers putting stuff on the floor, umbrellas, kids toys etc and yanking them out from under the seat which has also unplugged them. Glad that it was a simple and free repair.
