OK, Whats the difference between the following?

Featured Replies

Well its going to be quite some time yet before I make any performance enhancing mods to my car, as money is pretty much well tied up for the rest of this year, but next year, I am considering get my car chipped or remapped....

What I want to know, is this? Whats the difference between remapping, chipping, or a performance "box"? Apart from they seem to have varying degrees of power - remapping seemingly the best, performance boxes being the worst (or are they?), but most seem a similar price.

Now can someone explain what they are, and which one is most recommended?

Remapping: fueling and boost adjusted to suit the particular engine in your car.

Rechip: off the shelf chip with usually no adjustments made

Tuning box: they are not all the same - some are adjustable and connect to MAF etc while some are a cheap resistor mod..

personally having tried Superchips, Tunit & Jabba I would recommend a remap for best results (smoothness & power)

The Tunit I'm currently running gives good power but really needs fine tuning on a RR (well it really needs a visit to Crowlands actually :D)

plenty of advice on briskoda if you do a search etc

Thanks mate, I thought the remap would be the best option.

Question is, who is the best for doing this kind of work? Up until now, I've only heard of AMD, Jabbasport, Revo, and APR.
