car felt down on boost last night

Featured Replies

it may just be me getting used to the power but felt like there was less kick last night.

i was running 97RON rather than the usual 99. and it was cold. and it was windy and wet. and i do have the error code for pressure drop between turbo and throttle body (*check dv*)!

i dunno. maybe its just the downward spiral of wanting more power!

97RON should be ok, you shouldn't notice a power drop from that i'd say.

Was it error code 17705? I had that, but when the DV was changed it didn't come back.

Yeah it is. I just ignored it because I couldnt notice any change in the car, until now! But I still dont think theres any major problem there. What DV did you go for? Standard or a shiny forge one?

Might have a fiddle over christmas and see if i can get that code to dissapear. Unless something major happens i dont worry too much about the codes!

Is it easy to change the DV? Might get some samco hoses too... :santa2:

I got a Stratmosphere DV, then to try and solve the surge I bought a forge 007 ... which didn't solve it so I have a Stratmosphere spare if you need one for a cheap price ;)

It's very easy to change the DV over, if I can do it....

DV is easy to change just need to get some of the jubilee clips from halfords, (the screw ones)

err where is the diverter valve situated? Is it before or after the intercooler?

Its under that lumpy plastic bit on the engine cover.

It goes, air box ---> maf ---> n75 ---> DV.

The DV is the black round thing with the small allen bolts around the top of it, and yes, I had more cable ties than jubilee clips.........LOL

Haha love the use of zip ties there!! The offside front wing on my old suzuki SJ was held on with 5 zip ties end to end! They always save the day!

Thanks so much for your help on this guys. I was looking in totally the wrong place!

I'll get it changed soon and let you know if the error code goes. If it doesn't I think ill get samco or forge hoses too.

I need 3 jubilee clips right. Anyone know which sizes?

Not that I don't love the zip ties Beretta!!

I have plenty of spares of you get stuck...............................LOL

I did not really want to start clamping a jubilee too tight around the angled plastic connector that goes into the dump valve in case it squashed it, and the ties seemed to grip just right with no leakage at all.

Looking at the Forge unit.

Forge website lists a FMCL007P (fixed top) and a FMCL007PA (rotating top) available.

But awesome gti website offers a FMCL007PC. Which looks less manly than the FMCL007P due to a less edgy pressed look rather than a machined look.

Whats actually the difference??

Is the awesome gti one an old version. Or the other way round?

I'm definately getting a forge, but which one is best is hard to find out!

Help!!
