cleaning grubby marks off curtain airbag cloth-like housing

Featured Replies

hi

got my new octavia with curtain airbags which are housed in a semi-cloth finish (so not easy clean plastic, if you know what I mean)... driver's side middle airbag sits behind seat belt (on the window column)... are you following this non-techie rubbish I'm writing here?

I must have sticky fingers cos just noticed that when I reach up to full seat belt down I'm leaving grubby marks on the cloth finish of the airbag behind it... either that or someone did when they had oily hands at factory or dealers:finger:

Thought I might dab it off with some car uphostery foam cleaner on a cloth but can see it could all go horribly wrong:eek:

Any thoughts?

You'll be referring to the B pillar interior trim then.

When I got mine I looked at this material and thought "that'll be a pig to clean".

Mine is also fraying around the bottom of the B pillar where I get in and out of the car.

Not a good choice of material.

As for cleaning it, you stand more chance of smearing the dirt rather than removing it. I am thinking of trying something like 1001 or similar. The passenger side trim is getting quite dirty where traffic fumes get in through the window.

Had EXACTLY the same problem in my 55plate Octy 4x4. Used Vanish spray ( in a pink spray bottle from Tesco ) and a damp, new rag and it came up perfectly clean. I now keep the vanich in the car for such future occasions.
