Climate control faulty (blower not working)

Featured Replies

Hi Chaps,

Please bare with me for the non-technical terms here :o

I have climate control on my octy LnK, and this morning it kicks in like usuall, anyway after about 10mins into journey (had music on) thought to myself, i couldnt either hear it (the blower) as it was on full and then began to feel cold.

Anyway turned music down, cranked the climate control upto full whack, and basically nothing really happened. Then strangely near the end of journey for a sporadic moment it kicked into life again, and soon stopped

Any ideas, i presume that this type of system still uses a blower motor, or is that utter crap from me. Any help on what it might be would be ace - a much needed luxury this time of year

cheers

This exact fault was present when I bought mine, the dealer changed the front panel which fixed it.

The front panel of the actual climate control unit in the dash?? Any ideas as to what cost was involved, if the dealer mentioned this to you?

cheers for the advice

Blower or fan for the fan unit is fine. That's what pretty much everyone calls it.

When you had the low fan issue, was the front panel showing it as running or not? It's probably either the fan motor or the front panel as already suggested.

The display on the climate shows it as being on ie. the little graduated bars, but nothing from the vents or no sound is heard. Although when i have first started the car, the blowers are heard and felt for what is only a few moments (mins at most) and then stops, still showing the bars on the display.

If that helps

cheers again !

PS any ideas on cost for a new front panel?

Sounds like the controller I'm afraid. No idea on cost, but probably £lots.

hahaha just my luck that is, as i had the worse of two evils when my Xenon light wasnt working, could have been the bulb at roughly 100 pound, but oh no had to be the ignitor unit at a few hundred exc vat

thanks for all your advise - thinking bout it what your saying does make sense. By controller is this inbuilt into the front panel then? ie you have to have the whole panel changed.

cheers again

Sorry he didn't mention the price, he changed it happily though, along with the window switches and the armrest, he serviced it and knocked £2k off the £6k screen price as well!
