Handling MOD's, list please

Featured Replies

Hi guys,

What are all the options availible to improve the handling on the Fabia VRS?

I no the obvious ones, but some may not so please list any way.

Prices would also be brill, thanks!

My perfect setup

Jabba RARB

Cupra front console bushes

Powerflex front TCA bushes

Powerflex ARB bushes

Good tyres, T1-r, eagle F1, Uniroyal Rainsports, ku31, etc etc ;)

Standard shocks and standard springs :D

Thats how my car is setup now, and its not changing

forget lowering springs and uprating the shockers and springs if all you want is improved handling, cos on 90% of britains road surfaces the standard setup is better

Good coilvers - KW V2 prob the best, £800+ new

Jabba ARB - £200ish.

Strut brace - marginal - £40ish

Lower strut brace - £40ish too I think - again, marginal

Wheel spacers - improving track width can help. I paid £80 for a pair of 15mm spacers + longer bolts - eibach

Good tyres - wider tyres = more grip/

Lower profile tyres = less sidewall flex

Lighter wheels = less unsprung mass.

Lighten the car generally - no back seats if you don't use them often. £0 :D

How much would these cost to buy and how many hours to fit? Any specialist tools needed?

Cupra front console bushes

Powerflex front TCA bushes

Powerflex ARB bushes

How much benifit will these have?

Sorry if it is a muppet question - but what are 'console' bushes? i.e. where do they fit?

Thanks

Mark

The console bushes take the time as you really need to drop the console to get them fitted. The powerflex front bush is just an udder insert, so I believe that would be easy. ARB ones shouldn't be too bad either.

Cupra front console bushes About 12 quid for 2

Powerflex front TCA bushes about 30 quid for 2

Powerflex ARB bushes about 25 quid for 2

Its the cost of fitting that racks up the price.

I fitted mine with great ease. ;) Got a circle cutter and cut the center out of the console bush, then taped the outer plastic bit out with a hammer and small chisle.

Then used a press and some small spacers to press the new ones in. also used some johnsons baby shampoo as lube.

Front Track Control Arm bushes were equally a piece of p!55. First i set fire to them then used a big hammer to tap the center steel bit out. then pressed the new ones in with the vice at home.

arb bushs........ a monkey could do with its eyes shut

benefit wise, id say they have done alot. the car is alot more controlled under braking and intial steer in response is vastly improved.

Cheap mod if you fit yourself, not so cheap if you dont

disclaimer, i accept no responsibilty if you try setting yourself on fire by following this method...... have a nice day :D

Agree. Not yet got the front bushes done but on the cards for 08.

I'd not bother with uprated springs unless building a trackday car, but cars are usually under-damped as standard, plus however many miles of wear.
